Short answer: is terahertz radiation dangerous? It is non-ionizing, so it doesn't damage DNA the way X-rays can, but non-ionizing doesn't mean "no effect". A microwave oven is also non-ionizing and warms your dinner.[3]
Is terahertz radiation dangerous?
- Non-ionizing radiation mainly acts through heating, and intense exposure can damage tissue; everyday low-level exposure is low.[3]
- Exposure limits for terahertz were extrapolated from neighbouring bands, and experts say knowledge of safe limits is limited.[2][5]
How we keep it gentle
That is why sessions are short, warm and supervised. If you have any condition, ask your doctor first.
